Ingenii Stats Hub
In order to take the store owner to a position of clarity, we have developed an in depth statistical report module for Ingenii which not only allows the owner to get a grasp of the technical demographic for their visitors, but can also help to know where they are going wrong within the search engines.
From the technical point of view... a store owner who may be considering utilising a technology which works only on IE7 may previously have gone ahead with the changes, only to discover a dramatic drop in sales through the store. With the Ingenii Stats Hub installed, the store owner could immediately see how many visitors this change would impact, and know whether the loss would be considerable.
Similarly, a store owner may be trying to get to the top of the search engines for a particular search phrase, assuming that this would be the best approach for their store. The stats may in fact prove that this is not the case, and that they should concentrate on other keywords or phrases instead. For example. a store owner may be spending time and money increasing their keyword ranking for "musical instruments uk" assuming that most people looking to buy an instrument would use this generic term. A quick look at their Ingenii Stats Hub may show that more people are using the search term "electric guitars uk" or "yamaha keyboards uk" within the search engines, and that the "musical instruments uk" term is hardly being used. It would therefore stand to reason that the store owner's next approach would be to focus on the most used search terms and capitalise on the existing trends. It is also the case with the internal searches (the searches performed by the customer within the store itself) as this can quickly show what you COULD be selling that you're not. For example, a musical instruments store which doesn't sell guitar strings online, but has a high number of internal (or external) searches for "guitar strings" could be losing out on a considerable amount of business by not carrying this product. Customers searching for guitar strings and not finding any are likely to move on to the next store whereas, if they were able to purchase the guitar strings from this store, then they would be likely to add them to their cart and continue browsing and perhaps make further purchases from this one visit.
The Ingenii Stats Hub serves to provide as much information about the store as possible but, most importantly, the information it delivers is relevant information rather than the typical information that server statistics would provide. There is no need to know whether your visitors are coming from a .com domain or a .net domain, or how many kilobytes of traffic they used on your store. It's really not that important to know which countries your customers are coming from, because their billing or delivery addresses will tell you this information if it is something that you really want to know. You will also never see realtime figures from your server stats as they are collated and then presented the following day whereas the Ingenii Stats Hub is realtime - with every click on your store, you simply need to refresh the stats to see 100% up to date figures.
What IS important to you, the store owner, is which categories are being viewed the most, which pages are being looked at by your customers, which search terms they're using within your store to find the products, which manufacturers are being searched for the most, which products are actually being looked at the most, which hours of the day are providing you with the most visitors and which days are typically receiving the most traffic. Knowing information like this means you can target your marketing better to feature the products which are most popular and send out newsletters at the times when you know people are more likely to visit your store. It's also important to know which search terms are being used to find you within the search engines, which search engines are providing you with the most traffic, whether your visitors are coming to you directly or through third party links on forums or other websites. These are the important stats for your store, and it's these stats which will help you to tailor your content and marketing campaigns to capitalise on the trends occuring at your store.
